Non-Honor Based AA3 Achievements
29-May-2009
We’re all use to the Honor system of advancing our character in the AA 2.x.x series. With the release of AA3 it appears that there will be more to earn than just your honor points. This to me is a great idea, nothing beat’s unlocking something new in TF2 etc to help motivate you to play abit longer. Here’s what [Dev]Acekilla has to say on this subject.
There will be both training and multiplayer achievements in v3.0. We will of course be adding new achievements as we go forward as well (likely to match the new content & roles released). The different types of achievements you can earn in AA3 are as follows: Coins: These are multiplayer only achievements awarded on a round by round basis. They can be earned multiple times and we track how many times they are earned. These are awarded for actions such as completing a certain number of objectives, certain number of teammates treated as CLS, etc. Ribbons: Ribbons are achievements that fall between coins and metals. They are generally either commitment or single event achievements. These are awarded for actions such as so many hours of combat experience, winning on all maps, veteran AA2 service, etc. Medals: These are special awards the player earns once. Medals are earned for special actions and exceptional duty, such as excellence in training, or combat experience in all roles available, etc. Once earned, the achievements are noted and updated on your Soldier profile. We’ll likely release the whole list of achievements (and the art for them) as we get closer to release.
Vault/Mantle
29-May-2009
Just thought I would bring this up so folks could hear from the [Dev]s on the vault/mantle deal for themselves, and maybe understand it’s function abit better. Actual, it’s been reported that you can only vault while sprinting/running. That was when they let other website peoples play the game with Devs. I believe that was a while ago though, and they plan on allowing you to vault while walking, or are standing. It just wasn’t completed at the time.
"Thats a bit incorrect. Here’s how it works. If an object is vault/mantle-able (lets say a knee-high wall) you will always be able to vault/mantle over it. Exactly the way in which you get over the obstacle differs depending on the speed you approach it. If you are just standing in front of it, your character will step up and onto the wall. If you are sprinting at the same thing and hit the action key to initiate the move, you will launch yourself completely over it."
AA3 screenshots!!
13-Nov-2008
This day stands under the sign of a massive confusion caused by publication of alleged video from map Pipeline and its screenshots from version 3.0 on the Myspace site. Topic was quickly picked up by westerns sites which resulted in a world wide spread of the screenshots. Despite this society maintains large dose of skepticism regarding the truthfulness of posted materials. It seems like video shows fan-created Pipeline map on engine of one of AA rivals in online shooters (such as CS Source, Fear, Stalker and as suggested by some users - COD4). Another fact that may lead to screenshots being faked is that thread dedicated to them with links hasn't been deleted from the official forum. Therefor I invite you to view the video and screens from industrial version of Pipeline (Pics Below)

More on latest screenshot from AA3.
Today's release of the new version 2.8.4 shouldn't be a huge surprise to our readers. According to earlier information posted in SITREP it contains new training map under the name ES2 Mout McKenna and the map ES2 Border where we'll be able to practice new skill of target identification. Another change is the introduction of the AA Deploy Client, which operates in a P2P system, it lets players quickly and easily download the game and its individual parts. We strongly encourage you to try out game's new method of distribution.

Official screenshot and Beta news!
![]() |
The last dozen hours was spent by AA fans on nervous anticipation - all because the announcement of DEV Pye, who has made an official promise of publication of the first screen from AA 3.0. So it happened and the awaited post from DEV appeared on the official forum - already known to us picture of the camp with military vehicles in the background. Pye ensures that in its current form it is the unmodified screenshot from the game engine. This is not the end of important news for us: it's been official confirmed that the AA 3.0 will not be released this month (September), to comfort us we were informed about approaching date of the release of beta but DEV did not specify the exact date indicating only the winter season. Really positive news is the extension of number of beta testers. The BETA team will contain the most loyal fans (both clan players and veterans of the game), active members of the Forum and the IRC channel and finally the announcement of an open call for candidates for the Beta team, which will be announced soon on the page.
AA3 Release date speculation!
Yesterday information from the official forum has generated a lot of noise in our world and made its way into front pages of many sites and forums - one of these places is popular AAOTracker. As it turned out today at its forum we had another exciting message. One of the members referring to well-known site IGN dealing in area of hardware and games revealed that the release date of version 3.0 has been set to December 31, 2008. At the moment we can not in any way verify these revelations, therefore, it should be approached with great caution (recall that according to available information, version 3.0 was to be delivered in September this year or in autumn). Let's hope that DEV Pye will quickly respond to this information.
AA3 graphics! Fact or fiction?

A thread appeared today on the official forum suggesting the publication of the first screenshot from version 3.0. As it later turned out the image was posted in the article Improving "America's Army" on the site Army.mil belonging to the U.S. Army. It shows an army camp with visible transport vehicles. However, this is a concept art so we can not conclude whether it reflects in any way the possibilities of Unreal Engine 3 and work on a new version of the game. After this small disappointment it's time for some solid facts, Phillip Bossant speaks in the same article revealing few details about version 3.0. He echoes the announcement of making the game more realistic - all acts of player during training missions and online games will have their consequences later in the game. For example, not undergoing the additional training will ensure that the player will not be as effective during the mission as the one that has undergone training. The player will also be able to choose his equipment, but it must be counted, that its maximization will slow his movements. It was also announced that ROE system will be maintained together with penalties for its violations. One change will be the introduction of character development system along with awards and distinctions. Introduction of schedule informing community about the forthcoming new versions of the game is also a nice surprise. As you can see the Army launches media campaign related to the release of a new version of the game so the progress of work on version 3.0 must be advanced.
Special Forces and AA3
We had quite a long wait for fresh news regarding version 3.0. Traditionally DEV Pye shared with us his knowledge on the official forum. The time has come to put Special Forces present in the game on the "grill". Pye dispelled all doubts by stating that the addition of popular SF into the game will take place in few years after the release of first version 3.0 (in the same way as it was in case of 2.x line). This means that we will have to wait a long time after the premiere of version 3.0 to see the class of SF, its weapons and possible training.
AA3 Beta testers recruitment.
With less than 2 months to the announced release date of version 3.0 (by the way - September release date is still awaiting official confirmation) we have only bits of information about it and questions continue to pop up. Patience of community seems to end - and hence nobody should be surprised by appearance of topics urging developers to disclose the status of work on version 3.0 on the official forum. In this situation, DEV Pye seeks to explain the action of development team and reassure the community. He tries to explain the absence of large amounts of information on the grounds of marketing and maintaining schedule of the promotional campaign. He promises to continue to disclose many interesting news through his post on the official forum. He also stated that in the current phase of work AA 3.0 is not yet in stage of beta testing. Pye announced that when test will launch public notice on recruitment of new beta testers will be published. Judging by this post it seems that the idea of open tests has failed.
